The idea for “Wheel of Color” came from looking at tubes of watercolor paint that I had on my work table. Some were nearly full, some crumpled and nearly empty. Certain colors, the more vibrant ones, are pricey and one treats them like gold, squeezing every last dab of paint before discarding.
In teaching watercolor classes, we begin with color wheels and color charts. The painting resulted from using the tubes of color for the primaries and secondary colors with brushes and palette knives as devices for dividing the “wheel” into six sections.
