Women of Italy
Watercolor
Sold
A month of painting in Italy, primarily Umbria, was a delightful experience. Sights of walled cities and towns built in the middle ages, vineyards, wine, fresh produce, fine food, concerts in remote mountainside churches, sounds of cows or goats on the hillsides, medieval monasteries, Renaissance cathedrals, interactions with local people and so many memories. Evening respites in golden sunlight while sketching and absorbing as much of the atmosphere as possible. I am thankful to have a sketchbook of these memories.
This watercolor was done of a couple of women, absorbed in their work of unraveling a sweater in the town of San Mamiliano. No doubt, they would reuse the yarn for a future project.
